Wexford Youths will be anxious to forget about their first-ever Leinster Senior Cup final appearance in a hurry as they were hammered 4-0 by a rampant Bohemians in a one-sided encounter in Dalymount Park on Monday, August 29.

A brace apiece from team captain Roberto Lopes and striker Kurtis Byrne ensured the home side won the title for the first time since 1998, and 32nd in all.

Lopes struck first in the 24th minute when his glancing near-post header from Lorcan Fitzgerald's corner nestled sweetly in the net.
And the lead was doubled eleven minutes later when Dylan Hayes drilled a long crossfield ball to Byrne who beat Graham Doyle with a magnificent lob.

Youths never looked like narrowing the gap and conceded a third in the 63rd minute when Lopes did the damage with his head once more, this time from a Fitzgerald free-kick.

And a brilliant ball by Paddy Kavanagh to Keith Buckley created an overlap five minutes later, with the latter picking out the unmarked Byrne who completed his double.

The result doesn't augur well for Youths' return visit to Dalymount for an SSE Airtricity Premier Division clash on Monday, September 19.
