Courses get business ideas off the ground

Wexford's Local Enterprise Office will be running a number of workshops aimed at owners of small businesses from now until November.
The first event, which takes place in Wexford Library on September 11, will be a beginner's Facebook for Business course for companies interested in promoting their business through social media. Other similar events will be held around Wexford in the following weeks, including an advanced Facebook for Business course, a Twitter for Business clinic and a LinkedIn clinic.
The Owner/Manager Programme is a 25-week programme certified by Waterford Institute of Technology. It aims to attract owners of small businesses in Wexford. There will also be many courses focusing on traditional business skills, including a time management course, a presentation skills programme, a book-keeping clinic and various sales and marketing clinics.
Aspiring business owners will also find events to suit their needs. Wexford Enterprise Centre will host a ten-week Start Your Own Business Course, while a two-day Start Your Own Food Business Course at Wexford County Council will give anyone interested in the food industry the details on how to approach it. A Business Ideas Seminar on September 15 in Wexford County Council Buildings will help those with a business idea to develop and expand on it. The premises will also hold an event following day, with be a Business Idea Clinic for SMEs and micro-enterprises who have an idea for a new product or service.
Ticket prices range between €10 and €50 for short and one-day courses, with the longer programmes costing up to €500. There will also be several free events.
