The Annual Presentation of Awards Ceremony for graduates of CTEC - the Community Training & Education Centre - took place last week at Clayton Whites Hotel in Wexford.

In her opening address, Training Manager Rachel Tucker welcomed the graduates to the event, commending them on their achievements and thanking the CTEC tutors and staff for the excellent work they carry out and their personal commitment to supporting their students to achieve their learning goals.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, CTEC Manager Patricia Howlin commented on the need for adult education to be relevant and meet the needs of individuals looking for employment opportunities. She went on to add that many of the learners receiving awards had already gone on to full employment with 75% of healthcare graduates now in employment.

Madeleine Quirke, CEO of Wexford Chamber of Commerce then addressed the group, congratulating them on their academic success and recognising the work of CTEC and the CTEC teaching staff in this process. Madeleine shared her own experiences of learning, stating that education should be a lifelong process opening new doors and opportunities to graduates throughout their lives.

This year, graduating students received QQI major and component awards in Health Service Skills, Early Childhood Care and Education at level 5 and 6, QQI level 6 Train the Trainer, QQI level 6 Special Purpose Award in Training & Development, QQI awards in Business, Book Keeping and Payroll at level 5 and 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications.
