WEXFORD Youths Women's FC say the continuation of a sponsorship deal with Energia will help them 'mount a serious challenge' to retain their national league title this year.

Wexford Youths Women's FC General Manager, Laura Heffernan, said: 'The deal with Energia will bring a whole new level to the professionalism expected from within our club. A deal with such a huge company with high brand appeal does not come along very often and we appreciate the support of Energia for our bid to retain our Continental Women's National League title this season.

'Each player and member of the backroom team will benefit from this support and we all look forward to building a strong link through some interesting promotional opportunities.'

Energia Key Account Manager Michael Nugent, was delighted to announce the deal saying: 'We know women's sport is huge and this is a great opportunity to support participation in sport and the maintenance of healthy lifestyles. Wexford Youths Women's team is an ideal sponsorship partners as the players involved act as incredible role models and have shown that we, as a nation, can compete on a European stage. We are also delighted to align ourselves with the future of the International Women's Senior squad as hopefully the five Wexford Youths Women's FC players who received their first Senior caps last season will go on to represent Ireland for years to come.

Wexford Youths Women's FC Head Coach, William Doyle said: 'The financial burden that is lifted from securing a main sponsor will help the team to focus on the football aspect of their involvement in the club. This deal should enable us to mount a serious challenge this season to retain our Continental Women's National League title and give us another opportunity to compete in the UEFA Womens Champions League.
