The final countdown is on to the 2017 Wexford Business Awards which will be presented at the gala night at Clayton Whites Hotel on Friday, May 26.

Created in 2009 in order to recognise the achievements of local businesses and reward them for their commitment to excellence and customer service, this year there were 179 applications for 16 caterories and the sold out gala night will be attended by more than 500 people.

The event, of which this newspaper is the print partner, raises the profile of County Wexford and injects pride and confidence amongst employees and businesses, including the start-up industry. The awards demonstrate Wexford Chamber's determination to promote the strength and viability of Wexford in terms of its innovation and genuine desire to achieve progress on a national and international scale. Wexford is leading the way.

Madeleine Quirke, CEO Wexford Chamber, said 'Wexford is the place to achieve and enjoy a healthy and positive lifestyle.

'The IDA promotes Ireland as a home where people and companies get together. Wexford is indeed that, showcasing a location by the sea, mountains on our doorstep and a centre of culture and entertainment. Health, social and educational facilities are all of the highest quality and family life is cherished and supported."

'Wexford is punching well above its weight,' she said, 'the Business Awards are one of many conferences and gala events that are so excellently facilitated by our local hotels.
