WHILE an opening date for the new Costa Coffee in Wexford has still to be revealed, the finishing touches are being put what was the premises of South 51.

Windows and doors were put into the revamped premises at the corner of Cinema Lane and South Main Street over the past few days.

Planning permission was granted to LHM Property Holdings Ltd., for the alterations at the pub, although business sources in the town said the end user was Costa Coffee.

Last year, planners refused planning permission for a new coffee shop in the former O'Neill's sweet premises at 2 and 2A South Main Street after ruling that it would be contrary to the town development, the decision prompting the developers to search for a new premises on the street.

A receiver was appointed to South 51 in 2011 by the Bank of Scotland.
