Gorey pipped at the post for friendliest town

Gorey was pipped at the post by Navan for the Retail Excellence Ireland Friendliest Place in Ireland award at a ceremony in Galway recently.

A spokesperson for Gorey Municipal District said that it was an excellent achievement for the town to have made it to the final three in Ireland, alongside Navan and Ennis.

Gorey was nominated for the award by Wexford County Council which collaborated with Gorey Chamber for hosting the judging of the award.

The awards, which were held in Galway, brought great acclaim for the county.

Springmount Garden Centre's Emma Cooke announced as the Rising Star of 2016. Wexford also brought home the overall award with Greenacres of Wexford chosen as the National Store of the Year. The Duck Restaurant at Marlfield House was also a nominee in the National Store of the Year award.

Participation in these awards celebrates outstanding performance and vision by stores, places, people, websites and suppliers across the retail industry.
