WEXFORD County Council is inviting applications for funding under the Community Tourism Initiative for the Diaspora, which is a joint partnership between Wexford County Council, IPB Insurance, and Fáilte Ireland. The scheme provides a national fund of €1m to support local community events and festivals. In 2015, some 19 local events were supported in Wexford, attracting up to 2,000 visitors from overseas.

Cllr Tony Dempsey, Council Cathaoirleach, urged anyone with a good idea or interesting event, which would help Wexford to reach out to the diaspora, to make an application. Those interested can contact Wexford County Council's Tourism Department for a form. For more, email or phone 053 9196555 or 053 9196556. The closing date for applications is Friday, March 11.
