WExford meat supplier Irish County Meats had a triple win at the Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards for the quality products that they supply to Aldi stores.

The Camolin-based supplier won a gold medal for Aldi's Butcher Selection Lamb Rack, a silver medal for Aldi's The Secret Chef Lamb Shoulder Rack Topped with a Mint and Herb Crumb and a silver medal for Aldi's Specially Selected Premium Lamb Rack. Michael O'Brien of Irish Country Meats was there to pick up the prizes at the awards ceremony in Dingle.

Aldi's Irish suppliers won 22 titles in this year's prestigious Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards, providing Aldi with its biggest awards haul yet.

Commenting on the many wins, Aldi Ireland's Group Buying Director, Finbar McCarthy said: 'We are delighted that many of our Irish suppliers have tasted national success once again.'

Irish Country Meats is the largest sheep meat processor in Ireland and is the specialist sheep meat processing division of Slaney Foods. This isn't the first time that they've received a national award as in 2013, they won Wexford Chamber's Business of the Year award. At the same event in 2014, they were winners in the Wexford Green Business category while in 2015, they were runner up in the Wexford R & D/Innovation category.
