SEVEN top American travel agents, representing high end luxury tour operators, arrived in Wexford last week to learn more about Fáilte Ireland's three major tourism brands: the Wild Atlantic Way; Ireland's Ancient East and Dublin - A Breath of Fresh Air.

The tourism executives from Ambercombie & Kent and Ker & Downey tour companies spoke with celebrity chef Kevin Dundon at his hotel, Dunbrody Country House on Monday. The tailored visit was designed to promote Ireland to high end travellers. It was hosted and managed by Fáilte Ireland in collaboration with its partners Tourism Ireland.

The buyers represent the most influential high end tour operators in America who have expressed an interest in growing their business into Ireland. Together with creating a bespoke itinerary for the buyers, Fáilte Ireland hosted a networking evening with a number of Irish tourism businesses, including representatives from Monart Spa, that evening in Dunbrody Country House Hotel to give them an opportunity to meet and discuss business with the US buyers, while learning more about new Irish tourism initiatives via a presentation from Fáilte Ireland's Business Development team.

Ciara Sugrue of Fáilte Ireland said: 'These visiting US operators represent a lucrative segment of the American market and their interest in learning more about Ireland is a testimony to the strength of our attraction. Fáilte Ireland is delighted to highlight what our various tourism brands have to offer. Ireland is an ideal fit for the American market and our history, culture, landscapes and pace of life continue to be a big draw for US visitors.'
