Local Link bus service launched

Rural Roadrunner & The Rural Bus have become Local Link Wexford under the National Transport Authority, to continue providing safe, secure and reliable rural bus transport in County Wexford.

The newly titled service was launched on Wednesday at the Talbot Hotel, Wexford. The Local Link Wexford office is based in County Hall. There are three staff, MaryB O'Leary - Manager, Margaret Ruttledge - Administrator and Mary Morris - Dispatcher.

Ms O'Leary said: 'The staff transferred under from the old companies so no jobs were lost in the re-organisation of rural transport in County Wexford.'

Minister Anne Phelan informed those present on the restructuring of the Rural Transport Programme. She said: 'The objective of the Rural Transport Programme is to provide a quality nationwide community based public transport system in rural Ireland which responds to local needs.'

The Minister went on to outline the success of rural transport in County Wexford in 2014.
