London calling for clever house sellers
ANYONE selling a property in the county is advised to use a massive property expo in London on February 20, which will be attended by cash rich English prospective buyers, to their advantage.
Auctioneer John Radford, of Sherry Fitzgerald Radford, New Ross, is showcasing properties, along with representatives from Sherry Fitzgerald Haythornthwaite, Wexford, Sherry Fitzgerald O'Leary, Enniscorthy and Sherry Fitzgerald O'Leary Kinsella, Gorey, at the show.
Mr Radford said: '35 per cent of my buyers are UK based. The big thing for them is they need to be 45 minutes or less from Rosslare Europort so they are still independent and can go back to the UK to visit children and grandchildren easily.'
Mr Radford said County Wexford offers a great lifestyle choice.
'Here they can get a detached house with a lovely back garden and a nice aspect for €250,000, which is around £190,000. They wouldn't get a shoebox in the UK for that money. These are retired people who are cash buyers. They have a connection to Ireland. It doesn't necessarily mean that they'll move to Clare if their ancestor was from there. They're happy to live in Wexford.'
He said the exchange rate favours UK buyers.
The Kensington event is run by Sherry Fitzgerald in conjunction with Bank of Ireland and MyHome.ie 'It means people's property is exposed to cash buyers who are getting a sizeable reduction because of the currency. We have been advertising this in the UK since November. This is the way forward.'
