Wexford only chamber attending expo
Wexford Chamber will exhibit at the upcoming Completely Retail and Leisure Marketplace Expo, with a view to attracting large retailers to locate in Wexford town.
As one of the prime retail events in Ireland, which takes place in Dublin Castle on February 23, will bring together leading retail and leisure brands, to examine the opportunities which exist within the Irish marketplace.
Wexford Chamber's involvement in this year's expo, is part of a concerted effort to raise Wexford's profile with national retailers. A comprehensive retail investor prospectus, which presents a compelling business case for locating stores in the town, will also be distributed on the day. Speaking about the organisation's participation, Karl Fitzpatrick, President of Wexford Chamber, said:
'Wexford has already proved to be a successful location for many high profile national retailers, but an event of this scale provides us with a unique opportunity to network with other large brands and to put Wexford firmly in the minds of national retailers.
'If new retailers decide to locate in the town, it will not only reduce the number of vacant commercial properties on our streets, but ultimately, it would create much needed jobs for local people,'said Mr Fitzpatrick.
Wexford Chamber, which has received financial support from Wexford County Council to exhibit at the Completely Retail and Leisure Marketplace expo, will be the only Chamber of Commerce with a presence on the day. CEO of Wexford Chamber Madeleine Quirke said the expo was just one of a series of actions that the organisation has planned for increasing retail activity in the town.
'In addition to putting Wexford to the fore on a national level, we need to equip our existing retailers with the resources to adapt to the changing landscape of retail,' she said.
