WEXFORD-based La Côte seafood restaurant scooped the top prize at the annual Kilmore Quay Seafood Festival Seafood Platter competition which took place recently.

The results were announced by competition judge Eugene Callaghan, executive chef at Kelly's Resort hotel to a packed hall of festival-goers at the festival launch in the Stella Maris Centre, Kilmore Quay.

La Côte is a fine dining seafood restaurant run by husband and wife team Paul and Edwina Hynes.

It has won many critically-acclaimed awards over the past number of years including a listing in the 2017 Michelin Guide.

Eugene was extremely impressed with the fantastic display of seafood presented by some of Wexford's finest restaurants and hotels across the course of the evening.

Hot on the heels of La Cote were the Talbot Hotel, Mary Barry's Seafood Bar & Restaurant and Tides Gastro Pub. The presentation ceremony was followed by the opening of local photographic and art exhibitions by Lar O'Toole and the event was attended by newly-elected mayor Cllr Jim Moore and Wexford Rose of Tralee Julie Sinnott. The night continued with music from local artists and the Quay Notes acapella choir.
