The Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board has a new chief executive.
The Board, at its recent meeting, confirmed the appointment of Kevin Lewis to this important and challenging role which he will take up before the end of the month.
Kevin joins WWETB from Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board where he was the Finance Officer and where he also held the post of Education Officer.
Eilis Leddy, who has been acting Chief Executive for almost two years said:'It was a privilege to take on the CE role and I am proud to have led such a large organisation during a time of great change and development. 'These developments include the amalgamation of the former City of Waterford VEC, County Waterford VEC, and County Wexford VEC into WWETB, as well as the integration of the former FÁS functions into WWETB. WWETB strives to be the leader in Education and Training in the South East.'
Eilís chose not to apply for the permanent position of Chief Executive, but she is looking forward to supporting Kevin in his new role and to reverting to her post as Education Officer. Welcoming Kevin's appointment, chairperson of WWETB Cllr Jim Moore said 'he joins us with a wealth of experience at a critical time as we continue to develop as a leader in the provision of a quality education and training provider to people in our region. The Board acknowledges the considerable achievements under the stewardship of Eilis during her period in the role.' The past chief executive Clare McMahon is working for the WWETB in Waterford.
