Young entrepreneurs talk business
Over 20 aspiring entrepreneurs were talking business in Wexford at a series of special boot camps in Whites Hotel.
Each of the young hopefuls is a candidate for Ireland's Best Young Entrepreneur Competition, which will hold its national final in December. Following the boot camps, 11 participants were selected to go forward for interview next month in a hope that they will progress to the county finals.
The two-day boot camp was led by Terry Harmer from NLC Training in Kilkenny and Sean Fleming, accountant and business mentor, also based in Kilkenny. Alan Corcoran from South East Radio was on hand to teach the applicants about how to utilise local media to promote their business. Niall Reck from Graphedia gave a further business boost by talking to the candidates about the secrets to success.
On the second day, the participants were in the spotlight in a Dragons' Den style workshop. Each person had five minutes to sell their business ideas to a crowd, before being put test with a ten minute question and answer session.
'This was the perfect opportunity for the applicants to practice pitching their ideas for the interviews,' said Deirdre McGing, Enterprise Executive from the Wexford Enterprise Office.
The 11 chosen candidates now have their eyes on the prize, as they prepare for the county final interviews on September 25.
