Caring Sylvia, aged 51, lived her life raising her family
SYLVIA Travers, from Ballygoman, Barntown. who passed away suddenly, aged 51, at the end of December, leaves behind a a heartbroken family, a family she lived every day for, whom she spent her life looking after.
She was born to the late Brian and Margaret Berney, of Saunderscourt, Crossabeg, the baby of a large family. She was schooled in Crossabeg and then at the Presentation in Wexford.
Sylvia went on to meet Noel and marry and they had six children, Noel, twins Emma and Lynda, Garry, Jason and Amy. She lived her life raising her family and was thrilled when her grandchildren arrived. She loved being a nanny and they loved being with her and helping her do things.
Sylvia was a keen knitter and in her younger years had won medals for her creations. She loved to spend a few hours knitting and had often made beautiful blankets for her granddaughters Rebecca and Sophie.
In recent years, she had knitted many little gowns for stillborn or early babies after her grandson Harry was born sleeping and she found great comfort in helping other families going through such traumas.
Sylvia's passing was a sudden and huge tragedy for the whole family, but some comfort can be had from the many memories they had with her. Her family said they wanted to express their gratitude for all the kindness and help they have had and continue to receive following the loss of such a beautiful and caring person. She will be forever in their thoughts. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, her brother Bernard and her grandson Harry.
May she rest in peace.
