The passing of popular Coolcotts resident Breda O'Grady (née Rosssiter) on January 29 was a saddening loss for the Wexford community who will long remember her outgoing nature and love of people.

Born in Kilmore to a family of four, Breda later moved to Ivy Lane, Coolcotts where she lived with her beloved husband Patsy. Throughout their fifty years of marriage, the loving couple shared many things, including four children Veronica, Eithne, Siobhan and Patrick.

Breda was a housewife who worked hard to look after her four children, who brought her great happiness and pride throughout her 76 years of life. After they fled the nest, she decided to set up a bed and breakfast at her home 'Villa Maria' and it proved to be a great success. During its 25 years in business, guests came to visit time and time again and had nothing but good things to say about Breda's hospitality.

The venture also worked out in Breda's favour as she loved having people around her each day.

Breda was an outgoing and sociable lady who had a great zest for life. She had a wide variety of hobbies including bridge, cards and especially gardening - an interest that she passed on to some of her children.

No matter what life threw at her, Breda was always on the go. Her energy knew no bounds and it was this that helped her to keep up with her seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Breda was a kind-hearted woman who always had time for others. She was religious in her own quiet way.

Unfortunately, Breda's energy was taken from her when she was re-diagnosed with cancer following a battle with breast cancer over 23 years ago. She spent her final moments surrounded by her family before she passed away peacefully at her home.

Breda is survived by her husband Patsy, two sisters Kathleen and Peggy, brother Liam and grandchildren Graham, Tony, Christopher, Tara, Erin, Hugh and Amelie and great grandchildren Ryan and Gracie. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

May she rest in peace.
