THE sad passing took place recently of Sheila Lane of 64 Talbot Green.
She was 83 years old.
Sheila's daughter Liz described as very much a family person who loved her faith.
Her beliefs were very strong and she was visited by a priest on a daily basis, continuing visits made to her husband Denis who died 18 months ago following a long illness.
Sheila was brought up in Kilkenny and at a young age went to live in England where she worked as a chamber maid and as a waitress and it was while she was in the UK that she met her husband. The couple moved to Wexford in the 1950s to rear their family, Denis working in the marts, for Fine Wool and as a pools collector before cancer forced him to retire from work around 20 years ago.
Liz said her mam loved to do puzzles and devoted herself to rearing her family, and looking after Denis with other family members during his long illness.
She is survived by her five daughters: Mary, Kathleen, Sheila, Liz and Denise, son-in-law Tony, who treated her as a mother, which she reciprocated, and four grandchildren, Lynette, Tina, Gavin and Jason, other relatives and friends.
Her funeral Mass took place at Bride Street Church followed by burial at Crosstown.
