Sparks are set to fly on this week's Dragon's Den

ENTERPRISING Wexford farmers Andrew Byrne and Mark Browne are entering the 'Dragon's Den' on R.T.E. television this week with a hot idea. Contestants Mark from Caim and Andrew from Glenbrien are making their pitch as directors of Wexgen, the green fuel company.
On this week's programme (Thursday, February 25, 10.15 p.m.), they go looking for a ¤200,000 investment in their 'Greenflame' planet friendly briquette. Rather than being made from turf, the fuel is a biomass product made from woody plants grown in Wexford fields.
The Byrne and Browne team represent the 35 Wexgen shareholders who have been planting unusual woody crops such as elephant grass on their farms. Batches of Greenflame are already coming off the production line at the Moyne industrial park in Enniscorthy.
It is being marketed under slogans such as 'Go Green with Greenflame' and 'Biomass Briquettes, from Farm to Fireplace'.
'We have had great support from Wexford retailers including Pettitt's SuperValu and Wexford Farmers Coop who will have a stock of the briquettes next week,' said Andrew Byrne as he prepared for this week's broadcast.
