EMER LOVETT was a shining light. One of Wexford's best and brightest ambassadors, the vivacious 38-yearold Piercestown woman sadly lost a courageous struggle against breast cancer last December.
She leaves a legacy of cheery optimisim and tremendous courage.
Up until a few months before her death the stylish young woman had steered the business community as CEO of Wexford Chamber.
She was the face of Wexford at many business, social and cultural events. A lady who brought elegance and eloquence wherever she went, she was a dynamic face for Wexford business and was committed to the Wexford product.
Emer Lovett always had a smile, and was passionate behind the poise. She had a charisma about her that was coupled with a sharp intelligence, which earned her respect.
Emer joined Wexford Chamber in 1996, when it oversaw four events a year. In her hands the organisation grew to 30 events a year and she started lobbying for inward investment and EU projects like InterComm. She also helped the Chamber build trade links between Ireland and Wales while still overseeing cultural projects like the Wexford Festival Fringe, Wexford Book Festival and Wexford Hallowe'en Fest.
Through her stewardship the Chamber was recognised by Chambers Ireland as the Best Local and District Chamber in Ireland in 2008.
When diagnosed with cancer she remained optimistic, and refused to allow the illness to remove her positivity for life.
A young woman, who packed a lot into a short life, she was an inspiration to many who admired her compassion, sincerity and joie de vivre.
