Dedicated Wexford dog owners and their pets were on parade at the dog show at Petmaster, as they raised €250 for The Dogs Trust.

Manager of Wexford's Petmaster store, Declan O'Keeffe, judged the Large Dog of Show event, which was won by Michelle Walsh from Adamstown with her Red Setter.

Dog enthusiast Celia Boggan, from Rathaspeck, organised the show and also judged the Small Dog event, won by Margo O'Reilly, of Adamstown, with her wire-haired Fox Terrier, 'Jack'.

Celia (75) is the proud owner of seven dogs, and has been showing her animals for many years, winning over 200 trophies. Over the years, the dog lover has also fostered over 100 dogs for Wexford Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals (WSPCA).

'I just love dogs to bits and I will be organising another dog show for the WSPCA in a month or two,' she said.

'I also have a car load of soft toys to donate to the WSPCA car-boot sale in the Wexford Racecourse on August 2, which I hope people come along and support,' she said.

The Wexford Racecourse will open their gates for the WSPCA car boot sale at 7.30 a.m. on Sunday, August 2.
