The weekly '30' card game continues in the Community Centre this Friday, June 23, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week; catering on Friday, June 23, will be Bernie Hickey, Evelyn O'Gorman and Ann O'Gorman; on Friday, June 30, will be Bridget O'Gorman, Ann Stafford, Kay Whelan and Agnes Whelan. The 70th Agricultural, Horticultural, Trade and Vintage Show will be held in Adamstown on Saturday, July 1, at 10 a.m. The Show Committee are going all out this year for their 70th show. There will be lots of new attractions and a total of 222 classes to be judged.

The next split-the-pot draw takes place in Adamstown National School on Wednesday, June 28. This will be the last one before the summer holidays and we are hoping for good support. The death occurred on Saturday, June 3, of Liam O'Brien, Rathkyle (formerly of Coolgraney, Gorey and Oxford, England). To his wife Nancy, sons David, Shay, Kevin, Steve, grandchildren and extended family our deepest sympathy. Liam was predeceased by his daughter Margo. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Abban's Church on Wednesday, June 7, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.Community Games

Well done to Ryan Carthy Walsh, who was third at the Senior Men's High Jump in Oordegem T & F Belgium and he had been selected on the Irish Team, to compete in the European Team Championships in Finland on June 23 to June 25. Well done Ryan.
If you use the walking track you must pay membership to the Community Centre, being a payed up member of any other club e.g. GAA, Soccer, Athletics does not cover you to use the walking track, unless you play or compete for these clubs and you use the track for training. We will collect membership on Saturday the 24th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. New members are welcome.

The Secondary Schools all-Ireland T & F Championships took place in Tullamore on Saturday, June 3. Marguerite Furlong was first in the Inter. Girls Discus, Ryan Carthy Walsh was first in the Senior Boys High Jump, Triona Mooney was fourth in the Senior Girls 3k Walk and Tara Doyle was seventh in the Senior Girls Triple Jump. Well done to all four athletes on such great performances representing their schools and club.
Marguerite Furlong won the under-18 girls Hammer at the County Hammer Championships on Friday, June 9.
Ciara Mooney travelled to Tullamore for the u12/u13 Leinster Championships and finished 3rd in the u13 Girls Shot Putt.

Huge congratulations to Caragh McDonald, she won a gold medal in the u11 Girls Long Jump.
Athletics: Glynn NS recently won the DMP inter school athletics competition held in Sinnottstown Lane. The team put in a great effort and it was a great source of pride to the school.
Rackard League: Our Rackard League camogie team were unluckily defeated by Loreto Gorey in the Rackard League semi-final while the boys rounders team were unlucky to lose to Barntown in their semi-final.

Weekly envelope collection: Thanks to James White for his recent presentation of the parish accounts. It is projected that the church requires a weekly envelope collection of €700 to meet its commitments. Last week's collection realised €544.70 for which we are immensely grateful. Should you wish to become a contributor to the collection, envelope boxes are available from the parish office. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office is situated behind the church.

SOLSTICE 5K WALK
The Hope Cancer Support Centre will hold their annual summer Solstice 5K Walk and Ceremony of Light and Healing in Curracloe Beach on Wednesday, June 21, at 8 p.m. Everyone invited to come along and be part of this very special ceremony and to enjoy a peaceful and serene walk on this beautiful beach.
Our under-10 camogie team played against Davidstown-Courtnacuddy away on Wednesday evening. It was a great game from the girls which ended in a draw.
Our under-12 'GOLIATH' camogie team played the first game of the season against St Martin's in Piercestown. After a tough game and against the wind in the second half, team GOLIATH came out on top with a full time score of 2: one to 0: two.
Our under-12 camogie 'WARRIORS' team lived up to their name and battled hard on Thursday evening in Killurin. However, despite a great start and their best efforts, the Shamrocks came out on top. Thanks to Tony Butler for refereeing.
FÉILE NA NGAEL 2017
After months of hard work, planning, anticipation and preparation the Féile weekend has swept by in a blaze of energy, games, excitement, companionship, and cooperation. We thank the three visiting clubs Éire Óg, Annacarty Co. Tipperary, St Fechin's, Termonfeckin Co. Louth and Na Piarsaigh Co. Westmeath for their company and courtesy over the weekend and wish them well in the rest of the playing season, safe in the knowledge that we have all been responsible for creating a weekend of wonderful memories for the 140 odd children who visited Glynn-Barntown parish.
To the Glynn-Barntown boys and girls who took part in Féile na nGael 2017 over the weekend we would like to express the club's great sense of pride in you all as excellent ambassadors for our parish. We hope you will cherish the memories of this weekend.
We'd like to express a big thank you to all the host families and all families involved in Féile na nGael 2017 in the parish. Your support for the club and courtesy towards our visitors was exceptional.

Glynn-Barntown GAA and camogie club expresses huge appreciation towards our FÉILE COMMITTEE 2017 who have worked tirelessly to bring to fruition the successful club event we witnessed over the last few days. The amount of work required to make this weekend a success cannot be measured. The committee were Paudie Berry, Fiona Hayes, Annette Hillis, Angela Finn, Róisín Doyle, Sarah Butler, Colette Carley, Suzanne Goff, Aideen Buckley and Pascal Cooney.
A final thank you to the dedicated mentors who got the teams prepared for Féile na nGael 2017, working so hard for many months to hone the skills of over 70 children and prepare them for the event. Dancing at Camross
The July dance will take place on Friday, July 7, with music by the ever popular Checkers. Dancing 10 p.m. to midnight; admission is €8 including the tea.
The patron in Kilgarvan cemetary will take place on this Sunday, June 25, with Mass at 2 p.m. followed by blessing of graves.
Caroreigh field day
The 49th Caroreigh field day, in aid of Church funds, will be held on Sunday, July 30, next in Paddy OGorman's field, Caroreigh. The event will kick off as usual at 1.30 p.m. with the Fancy Dress parade. Full programme will be published later.
The summer outing takes place on Wednesday, July 5. We are traveling to Fairbrook House and Gardens in Kilmeaden and then on to Waterford to the Bishop's Palace and Museum and some retail therapy. A social evening will take place at Mary Teresa Redmond's, Mill View, Foulksmills on Saturday, July 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. All proceeds in aid of Co Wexford Community Workshop (Enniscorthy) CLG. There will be refreshments, music and a bouncy castle on the day.
