Wexford's own Charlie Murphy will step into the shoes of a literary icon when she plays a role in a new BBC feature-length drama about the Brontës.

'To Walk Invisible' will see Charlie play the part of Anne Brontë, the youngest of the Brontë sisters and author of the acclaimed novels Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. The story will tell how Anne, along with her sisters Emily and Charlotte became success stories in the literary world.

Charlie will star alongside War and Peace star Chloe Pirrie as Emily

Brontë, while Starlings actress Finn Atkins has been cast as Charlotte. Adam Nagaitis will play reckless brother Branwell. Jonathan Pryce of Game of Thrones fame will hit our screens as patriarch of the Brontë family Patrick.

The drama will begin filming in Yorkshire next month and will be directed by Happy Valley writer-director Sally Wainwright.

In the meantime, fans of Charlie can catch her in new film The Foreigner, which will hit cinemas later this year.
