Crowds of locals knit together to welcome a special guest to Wexford
Piles of keen crafters were knitting up a storm in Wexford when renowned knitwear designer Debbie Bliss paid a visit to the town.
The special guest spent the day in Crafty store on Redmond Road where she was joined by over 120 fans throughout the day. According to Crafty's Diane Condon, the designer was very impressed with the Wexford bunch.
'Debbie was blown away by them,' she said. 'She was also very surprised at the amount of interest in crochet. It was something that she said she would take home with her.'
Eager guests enjoyed a presentation by Debbie, during which she spoke about her inspiration, styling and colours. She also showed some samples from her autumn winter collection and judged some competitions, including a fashion show which saw guests showcasing their favourite knitted garments.
'She was delighted with everyone's interest,' said Diane. 'There was a great buzz in the store all day.'
Crafty was one of three stores in the country to receive a visit from the well-known designer and author. Interest was high from the get-go, with demand for a place so high that Diane had to make the day a ticketed event. All of the funds raised will go to Wexford Hospice Homecare.
