IN THE SAILING COT THERE WERE plenty of hair raising moments in the Sailing Cot on Saturday as several local lads bared all for a good cause. Ollie Newport, Dermot O'Brien, Adrian Conway and Barry Murphy put their chests and legs on the line for a charity waxing in aid of St. Luke's Cancer hospital in Dublin.
The event was organised by thyroid cancer survivor, Fiona Butler, who received all of her treatment in the Dublin hospital.
Earlier in the summer Fiona organised a charity pub crawl for the same cause, and between the two events they managed to collect an impressive €5,114.
'It was a fantastic amount, I couldn't believe it,' said Fiona this week as she thanked everyone who donated spot prizes, participated in the leg wax and turned up on the night.
'There was a lot of fun at the leg wax, and a few yelps from the lads,' she laughed, adding that the waxing honours were carried out by Pamela Morris.
'It was a very good night. The pub was packed. I'd like to thank everyone who helped in any way,' she said.
