In what has become a much anticipated annual event, the community in Glynn and surrounding areas got together at Glynn Hall to enjoy some breakfast together for a great cause. Each year for the past 11 years, Glynn Hall plays host to the Cheerios Childline Breakfast which raises money in order to help some of the most vulnerable children in the country.

'I suppose it all started when Marie Morrissey spotted it on a cereal box and asked if we'd be interested in doing it,' said Joan White, one of the organisers. 'Eleven years later we're still going strong. The morning always receives great support out this way and the people never let us down. It's become a kind of a tradition and a community gathering at this stage. Everybody looks forward to the morning each year.

A total of around 300 breakfasts were served up on the day to people from Glynn and from the neighbouring parishes of Barntown and Taghmon. All of the food, which ranged from a top of the range fry up to cereals and fruit, was sponsored and was sourced with the help of local man Joe Wogan.

'We haven't finished counting all the money yet,' said Joan.

'But we're hoping that, with the raffle and everything included, we'll have managed to raise over €2,000 anyway, which we're delighted with.'
