Wexford County Council is hosting a unique and interesting event with an exhibition called 'Wexford Thatch, Ceird, Oidhreach, Pobal' which is running for the next three weeks at County Hall.
Featuring thatching materials, methods and tools, past and present, the Wexford Thatch Ceird, Oidhreach, Pobal exhibition will celebrate the county's thatch heritage.
The exhibition has been developed by the planning department of Wexford County Council, which engaged Dr Fidelma Mullane to highlight the history of the county's long-standing and unique thatching tradition.
The exhibition features pictures and artefacts relating to the use of thatch in County Wexford, and is sure to be of interest to owners of thatched properties, people with an interest in the traditional craft of thatching, and those who simply recognise the wonderful beauty of our thatched heritage and would like to learn more about its origins and history.
