Common table salt is highly processed and refined, and often has chemicals, and caking agents added to allow for better flow. This form of salt can cause problems with our health if eaten regularly.

Common table salt is what's often added to processed foods. Then we might add this salt to cooking, and again at the table. So if our diet is mostly packaged, processed foods we can eat a lot of this health-depleting food that has no nutritional value at all.

It's just another reason to move away as far as we can from processed foods, but in today's busy lifestyles that is sometimes difficult to achieve. But read your labels and see for yourself how much salt you are eating per day.

Himalayan Pink Salt is a salt with many health benefits. It's pure and natural and contains over 80 trace minerals that the body needs. The salt is mined in the Himalayan Mountains and nothing has been added to the salt or taken away. It's over 250 million years old.

One change that you can easily make is swapping the salt that you add to food to Himalayan pink salt. I love it and use nothing else now. It might take you a little while to get used to the colour but you do feel that little bit more pure when you use it.

Himalayan pink salt will help to regulate the water content of the body; it promotes a healthy pH balance in the cells, and helps with their electrolyte balance. Interestingly it helps with leg cramps which are often associated with excess salt intake, which of course could be coming from the packaged foods that you are eating. And it can support respiratory health, and vascular health, quite the opposite to the effect of common table salt.

Here are a few tips from customers:

Take 1/8 teaspoon in small amount warm water at night to ease chest and lung problems, and aid sleep.

Add 2 teaspoons to a cup of warm water with the juice and zest of one lemon and sip for migraine headaches and sip.

Add ¼ teaspoon to pure fruit juice or coconut water after exercising to replace the electrolytes lost through sweating.

So it's time to check out the Pink Himalayan Salt. You'll be glad you did.
