Santa Claus and his team of elves have asked People Newspapers for help to ensure that all the good boys and girls across Wexford wake up with a happy smile on Christmas morning.

Santa has given us a very special post box which will be brought to the North Pole on December 17 by a team of hand chosen reindeer making sure no letters get lost in the post.

And because he loves reading the Wexford People newspaper while he's having his nightly hot chocolate Santa wants to save all the Wexford Santa letters in the one spot so he's asked us to set aside tonnes of pages to print all the letters.

Letters should reach us as soon as possible to help us as soon as possible to make sure the elves have all the toys made on time.

In fact he asked us for two favours and we happily agreed because everyone knows that nobody says no to Santa!

He said that when he's waiting for Rudolph to come out of the red nose shining department in the North Pole he sometimes logs onto www.wexfordpeople.ie on his smartphone (a birthday present from Mrs Claus) so some letters will appear online as well on www.wexfordpeople.ie.

Santa said he knows that sometimes families can't all be together at Christmas for various reasons so even if you are separated from loved ones they can see have a read of the letters so please mention in your letter if you are separated from loved ones.

All letters will be printed free of charge and they can be accompanied by a photograph if the mammies and daddies are happy to see a picture of you appearing in the paper. Obviously because Santa knows exactly where everyone lives there will be no addresses printed but to make sure you please put a general area or town on the letter so that the elves can pack the toys into the right sack so Santa won't be searching for your present when he pops down the chimney.

The letters (and if desired, photographs attached as jpegs) can be emailed to santaletterswexford@peoplenews.ie before December 17. They can also be posted in the traditional way to Santa Letters, People Newspapers, Channing House, Rowe Street, Wexford.

All letters will appear in our very festive 'Dear Santa' special on December 22.
