During studio sessions for his 'Bad' album, Michael Jackson wanted Barbra Streisand or Whitney Houston to join him on romantic ballad 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You', but both declined the invitation. Singer and songwriter Garrett, who had co-written Bad's 'Man In The Mirror', was a last-minute replacement. 'I Just Can't Stop...' was the lead single from the album and it soared to number one in the charts of many countries, including the UK, US, Japan, Norway, Italy, Netherlands, and Ireland. Jackson had been due to perform the song with Judith Hill during his 50-concert 'This Is It' residency at London's O2. After his death, she took lead on 'Heal The World' during the memorial service.
