Right Said Fred took their name from a 1962 single by British character actor Bernard Cribbins (the man who narrated The Wombles TV series). Their debut single 'I'm Too Sexy' was a smash hit around the world, and a No. 1 in the U.S., but stalled at No. 2 in their native UK. The song spent six weeks at number two, held off the top by Bryan Adams' record-breaking '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You'. 'Deeply Dippy', Right Said Fred's third single, finally gave them a chart-topper in the UK (and Ireland), but America had lost interest. 'Deeply Dippy' did not chart at all in the US and Right Said Fred have never charted there since.
