With the help of Status Quo, the Manchester United squad reached the top of the UK charts (and No. 2 in Ireland) 22 years ago this week. It remains the only time a football club song has ever made No. 1 in the UK, although several World Cup tunes have hit the top. The song reached number one just before Man U won the 1994 FA Cup final, beating Chelsea 4-0. It spent two weeks on top before being replaced by Wet Wet Wet's cover of The Troggs' 'Love Is All Around', from the hit film 'Four Weddings And A Funeral'. 'Love Is All Around' would go on to spend 15 consecutive weeks at No. 1 - the second longest UK chart reign of all time.
