A VOLUNTARY group with charitable status, the JFK Trust was founded in 1988.
With a backdrop of bleak unemployment in New Ross, the Trust was charged with commemorating the historic legacy of US President John F. Kennedy, which would benefit his ancestral home area.
Since then it has been a dynamic force behind a variety of achievements in County Wexford.
In 2001 the Trust successfully completed the € 5m Dunbrody Famine Ship project, which now attracts 60,000 visitors a year to the area.
They have carefully nurtured the Kennedy connection with New Ross and the annual Jean Kennedy Smith Symposium takes place as part of the JFK Dunbrody Festival.
In 2010 the Trust also plan to open a new incubator hub/work space in South Street, New Ross which will provide affordable working space, free mentoring and a professional business environment for budding entrepreneurs.
The Trust continues to function thanks to a dedicated work force under the guidance of a voluntary board of directors. Together they have contributed to the success of this dynamic community organisation.
