Five-piece band Static are defying their name by quickly moving up in the music world.

The Wexford band have found a place for themselves in the local pub scene and now are getting ready to raise the bar with the launch of debut single 'Flowers'. It will be launched on June 10 in Cafe Fusion at 8 p.m.

Written by leading lady Catherine Murphy, 'Flowers' is about enjoying life and all that it brings.

'Flowers is basically about enjoying life, not tying yourself to deadlines and knowing that sometimes you have to let your hair down,' said Catherine, who is originally from Kennedy Park. 'I suppose personally, it's about going through some emotional stuff through the years and finding my soul mate.'

Catherine is joined in the group by her husband Aidan on guitar, lead funky guitarist James MacCintyre bass player Risteard O'Dwyer and drummer Rafael Zacharjasv.

The band will be supported by Skipper Scallan at their upcoming launch. Along with 'Flowers', those who buy the single can get a first listen to two other original tunes.
