THERE are only a few short weeks to go until it's curtain up for Wexford Light Opera Society's highly-anticipated production of 'Chess The Musical' at the National Opera House.
One of the most challenging shows to sing, WLOS last performed the musical to great acclaim at the old Theatre Royal in 1997, the performance receiving rave reviews.
'Chess the Musical' will take place at the opera house from April 27 to May 2.
The production team is the same for the Society's last two very successful productions 'The Witches of Eastwick' and 'Sister Act' - which was booked out completely before it even opened last year - with Director John Donnelly, Musical Director, Fintan Cleary, Choreographer, Nicole McDonald and Chorus Mistress, Eithne Corrigan.
The cast for this production features Tony Carty, Aileen Donohoe, Derek Collins, Naoimh Penston, Des Whelan, George Lawlor and Eric Hayes.
The plot involves a politically-driven, Cold War-era chess tournament between two men, an American grandmaster and a Soviet grandmaster, and their fight over a woman, who manages one of them and falls in love with the other.
The booking office is now open.
Book early to avoid disappointment as this WLOS show is likely to be a sell out too.
