BARNTOWN NS
The school children celebrated St. Bridget's day on 01st February and while lots of interesting facts were learnt and stories told about St. Bridget in the classroom, it was also a very busy time for the children. Pupils from Ms. Mc.gillycuddy's class performed St. Bridget Day Songs during Assembly on Friday and not another sound could be heard in the hall. The songs told simple stories about Spring, St. Bridget and looking forward. The performance was enjoyed by all. Ms. Furlong's 3rd class displayed St. Bridget's Crosses, made from rushes collected by the children and some of the other classes enjoyed making their own crosses also.
Ms. Stamp's school choir sang beautifully at Assembly also. The hard work and dedication by both Ms. Stamp and the children was evident in their performance. Suspension Bridge: 5th class pupils were proud to display their newly constructed Suspension Bridge which took many hours of hard work and dedication. Well done to all involved and to Mr. Flynn for over-seeing the project.
Many thanks to all who attended our parent/teacher meeting last Thursday evening - we were delighted to welcome you to our school.
