CHURCH ACTIVITIES
Mass is on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9.30 a.m. There is a prayer meeting in the parochial house every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Reconcillation and confessions for Christmas in the church are on Monday, December 12 at 8 p.m. Thursday, December 8 is the Feast of the Immadulate Conception and is a holy day. Mass in Crossabeg church on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. and Mass on Thursday morning at 9.45 a.m. The general finance committee meeting has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, December 14 in the Ferrycarrig hotel at 8 p.m.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
Sunday next, December 11 is a special day for the senior citizens of the parish who will be guests at a special dinner, sing along and dance session in the Ferrycarrig hotel. Guests will sit down to the meal at 6 p.m with the dancing commencing afterwards. Raffle tickets are still on sale around the parish so do give generously as all sales will help offset the costs for the party.
NEW ARRIVAL
We send our congratulations to Patricia and Eamonn Frayne, Killowen, Crossabeg, on the recent birth of their second child.
CHRISTMAS FAIR
The Coffee morning and sale of Christmas goodies which was held in Kyle Forge on Saturday last was an outstanding success. This is now an annual fundraising event and one that is eagerly awaited every year.
Annis Kehoe of Slaneylodge ws the busy cook behind the scenes. This year all proceeds from same will go the Irish Pilgrimage Trust Cycle 2012 to Lourdes and Annis is also taking part in that gruelling expedition.
Annis would like to thank each and everyone who helped make the event once again such an outstanding success. Thanks to those who gave of their time to organise the teas and refreshments and selling of the goods, to all who placed orders with her before and during the event, to those who came along on the day, donated to the cause and the raffle, bought goods and who continue to give so generously. She cannot thank the people enough for their generosity and kindness and support.
Raffle winners on the day were Phil Lynch, Joan Franey, Mary Quinn, Anne Walsh, Ann Stafford, Peg Foley, Nuala Murray, Mary Murphy, Breda Murphy, Siobhan Kehoe and Fr. Jim Finn.
GAA NEWS
Crossabeg/ballymurn GAA club had no winner of last weeks Lotto jackpot, while there were two match three winners, David Murphy and Evan Kinlough. The numbers drawn were 13, 18, 20, & 23. This week's jackpot is €9600.
The A.G.M of the Adult section of the club will take place on Friday, December 30. Well done to the minor footballers who defeated Clonard in the Jim Byrne cup recently.
CONDOLENCES
We extend our condolences to Mr. Liam Kavanagh and family, The Deeps, on the death of his brother Martin, whose funeral took place to Clonmore cemetery after Requiem Mass in Glynn church on Sunday last. R.I.P.
VINTAGE CLUB
The annual general meeting of the Over the Water Vintage club took place in the Pump House North Slob on Wednesday, November 30 and the following officers were elected: Fr.jim Finn (President) John Redmond (Chairman), Micheal Scallan (Vice-chairman), Martin Kearon (Secretary), Eamon Nolan (Treasurer).
The Chairman welcomed all present and thanked everyone for their help and support during the past year. Since the formation of the club in March, 2009, a total of €32,000 has been raised for various charities and parochial funds. Jimmy Nolan gave a very informative and interesting talk on the History of the Slob Lands and Pump House and the night concluded with lovely refreshments served by Madge Nolan and her team.
The Over the Water Vintage club are holding their Christmas party in Hotel Curracloe on Friday, December 16, commencing at 8.30 p.m. All members and friends most welcome.
ATHLETICS
Best of luck to Cian Kinlough who will compete in the All-ireland cross-country championships in The Curragh on Sunday next, December 11, having had a great run in the Leinster championships held in Adamstown recently. He will compete in the under 11 category.
Athletics Indoor Training: Camross hall is no longer available for Indoor training. Training has now been changed to Adamstown hall and will now take place every Monday night for the time being. It may be changed to a Wednesday night later on. Starting time on Monday night is 7.30 p.m. and all are welcome, especially if you are interested in High Jump or Hurdles. Training is also focusing on strength and flexability.
Training continues at the community field every Monday and Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. Training also at the centre on Saturday afternoons from 4-5 p.m for the junior athletes. Senior athletes training every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.and on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.
SOCCER NEWS
Crossabeg AFC will hold their Christmas social in Marty B`s, Killurin, on Friday, December 16 commencing at 9 p.m. and look forward to seeing all their members and supporters.
New signs to be erected around the club grounds have been kindly sponsored by Hughes & Company, Redmond Road, Wexford. Any businesses in the area interested in supporting the club should contact the treasurer, Barry Kirwan on 087-7408889.
The club are also in the process of completing the flood lighting for the training pitches and are in need of a few telephone/esb type wooden poles to complete the project, so if anyone out there has any and would like to get rid of them, please contact Colm on 089-4415465. The club would also like to extend their deepest sympathy to the family of Pa Roberts who died recently. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all who played alongside him.
55+ CLUB
On Tuesday, December 6 an Aloe Vera demonstration will be given by Mia Murphy to members of the 55 + club in Kyle Forge. The end of the year Christmas Mass will be celebrated in the Forge on Tuesday, December 13.
COMMUNITY GAMES
Best of luck to the Chess under 12 and under 16 teams who will compete in the county finals in Belfield on Thursday, December 8. Registration takes place at 6.30 p.m. and the competition gets underway at 7 p.m. A reminder to all athletes that the cross-country county competitions take place at the CBS school grounds in New Ross on Sunday, December 11 at 11 a.m. sharp. Competitors to bring along a copy of their birth cert with them.
50TH BIRTHDAY
Congratulations to Peader O`connor, Kyle, who celebrated his 50th birthday with a party in Foleys of Crossabeg on Saturday night last.
YOUTH CLUB
Meeting this Friday night from 8.3010.30 p.m in Crossabeg community centre and there will be a Christmas card making workshop. Parents on duty are Fiona Ryan, Mary Foley, John Scally and Andy Fanning.
A reminder to members to bring €10 with them for the christmas disco taking place on Friday, December 16. The show `Grease` proved to be a big hit with the members last week and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
