KILLURIN ROWING CLUB

The Heritage Long Row took place last Saturday evening with the men's teams rowing to Ferrycarrig from Killurin, and the Ladies rowing back.

Well done to all competitors who took part in this four mile race, not an easy challenge no matter what your standard of rowing is. The Killurin teams proved to be a force to be reckoned with by winning each class in which they had a team. Proof once again how far we have come this season.

A very special mention must be given to 13 year old Nigel Donoghue who stepped in at the last minute to row with the 2nd class men. Despite playing two soccer games earlier on in the day, Nigel willingly took on the challenge of rowing with the seniors in this tough event. As an underage rower, his efforts have to be applauded, and we are delighted to have such a committed young man as part of our club.

The winners are as follows: 1st Class Men - 1st place: Gulbar, Maudlintown. Crew: Gavin Cullen, Christy Lane, Barry Kinsella, PJ Burke. Cox: Eddie Foley. 2nd - Spirit - Ferrycarrig. 2nd Class Men - 1st place: Aisling, Killurin. Crew: Shane Stephens, Michael Carthy Jnr, Tom Butler, Nigel Donoghue. Cox: Sinead O Leary. 2nd - St Kearns 1st Class Ladies - 1st place: Aisling, Killurin. Crew: Karen Sinnott, Tara Hamilton, Natasha Hamilton, Selina Hamilton.
