OULART

FIRST FRIDAY: Friday 3rd September is the first Friday of the month. Mass will be celebrated at 9am and invalids and the housebound will be visited as usual. TG4 CREW A TG4 crew visited Oulart-The Ballagh G.A.A. club last Tuesday, 24th August to interview and film for "Seo Spoirt", a snippet of which was shown last Friday night.

The main focus was on the under-age players and they all looked splendid in their red and black jerseys. Maith sibh, a phaisti!

VINTAGE WORKING DAY

Oulart Vintage Group have organised a "Working Day" for Sunday 5th September. This will be held in Gardiner's field, Kilnamanagh, Oulart (on the Wexford/Gorey coast road). It will feature ploughing, harrowing, cultivating etc. using implements dating from the 1930s to more modern times.

Other attractions include "tractor pulling" and a monster Dog Show, with many classes and fantastic prizes. Dogs may be entered on the day. There will be refreshments available on the field and attractions to suit all ages.

STORY-TELLING

The September session in the Bygone Days House of Stories will be on Monday 13th. All are welcome to attend and contribute to the entertainment if so inclined. Bring your friends.

MINOR HURLING

Oulart-The Ballagh minor hurlers will be away to Rathnure in the Co. semi-final, next Friday evening, 3rd September at 6.45pm.As many people as possible should attend to give support to this talented team that is captained by Aaron Kenny.

UNDER 14 FINAL

Well done to the under 14 hurlers and their mentors on reaching the Co. final. They will play Ballygarrett in Taghmon next Saturday 4th September at 11am.

SENIOR HURLING

Oulart-The Ballagh senior hurlers have qualified for the co. semi-final by virtue of their comprehensive win (4 goals 25 pointsts to 7 points) over Faythe Harriers in Wexford Park, last Sunday. Details of the match and the results of the draw for the semi-finals will be found in the sports pages in this paper.

BAG PACKING

Don't forget to volunteer for St. Patrick's Church Fund "bag-packing" in Super Valu, Abbey Square, Enniscorthy this coming weekend, 2nd./3rd./4th September. (Thurs. Fri Sat). Contact Mary-Geraldine Buttle (086-8422836) or any member of the committee to indicate the day and time that would suit you. With the replacement of the windows to be completed and other necessary works to be done it is imperative that the fundraising effort should continue. By volunteering a couple of hours of your time you are contributing to the effort.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

Angela Lawless, Linda Masterson and Eileen McGrath are the Ministers of the Word for this coming weekend 4th/ 5th. September. Kathryn O'Dowd, Marie Prendergast and Pauline Rice will be on reading duty on 11th/12th September.

PANTOMINE SOCIETY

Oulart Pantomine Society has announced that its next show will be "Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs", produced by Eileen Smith. Anyone interested in being part of the production is invited to come to a meeting in Oulart Community Centre on Monday 6th September, at 8pm.

The Society would welcome former and new cast members who have aspirations to tread the boards or anyone who feels they have something to offer. If you have any queries please contact Producer/Director Eileen Smith 0539136967 or 086-0780928.

There will be a separate meeting for chorus members at a later date which has yet to be decided. That date will be published in these notes in the next few weeks.

Active Retirement Oulart & District Active Retirement Association have finalised their plans for the outing on Thursday 9th September. Assembly point is the church car-park at 9.15am. The bus will leave at 9.30am sharp. The October outing will be a five-day coach trip to Killarney, from Monday 11th to Friday 15th October.

Quite a few places have been booked but there are still places left at a cost of €320 each. If you would like to travel with the group please contact Mary O'Grady, Chairperson (053-9136160) or Hugh Coleman, Treasurer (9136156).

CAMOGIE BUS

A bus is being organised to bring supporters to the All Ireland Camogie Finals on the 12th September. If you wish to travel on the bus, please attend at the upper complex in Oulart on Thursday 2nd September at 8pm. In order to secure a seat on the bus a deposit of €10 must be paid on the night.
