ROSSLARE STRAND
PUBLIC MEETING
Annemarie Malone, Barrister-at-Law, of Grangecourt, Rosslare, Co Wexford, will chair a Public Meeting about the proposed closure of the Rosslare-to-Waterford Train Service, on Wednesday, 1st September 2010, in Rosslare Recreational and Development Centre at 7.30 pm.
Coras Iomphair Eireann served Notice under Section 19 of the 1958 Transport Act, which they are required by law to do. This Notice was served by Coras Iomphair Eireann on 21st May, 2010, stating that they intended to terminate services of trains for ordinary passenger traffic and for merchandise, as and from 21st July.
Permission to do so is required under the 1958 Transport Act, from the National Transport Authority, as governed by the Public Transport Regulation Act 2009.
The National Transport Authority ordered a survey to be carried out. This survey was completed on 16th July 2010. The National Transport is currently considering the results of this survey and will make its decision on 3rd September.
Annemarie Malone will explain to the people, the law, in relation to the 1958 Transport Act, as governed by The Transport Regulation Act 2009.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Following the meeting, questions may be asked and Annemarie Malone will answer all questions asked of her.
