Actor Lydon to be honoured by the Wexford Film Society
ACTOR Gary Lydon is to become a fellow of Wexford Film Society.
The news was announced at the launch of the Society's new winter season of films in Wexford Arts Centre.
Gary joins the author Billy Roche who was the first recipient of a Fellowship award last year.
The aim of the initiative is to honour Wexford people who have distinguished themselves in the world of film.
Lydon is a two-time IFTA winner who has had memorable roles in major movies such as ' Nothing Personal', 'Country', 'Michael Collins', 'War Horse' and ' The Guard'.
He is currently treading the boards at the Gate in Declan Hughes' production of ' The Last Summer' for Dublin Theatre Festival.
He is expected to return to Wexford to receive his honour in the next few weeks.
The Society's new Picture House programme kicks off on November 6 with the multi-Academy Award winning French film ' The Artist' and will continue through the winter months up to April 2013.
The films are screened on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. in the Arts Centre.
