Members of the Adamstown Athletic Club had one of their best days ever, last Sunday on our Annual Sponsored Walk. The generosity and hospitality given to us by Dolly, Jim, Jack & May Roche was second to none. The Roche family opened their hearts and their home to over 80 aspiring athletes, parents, grandparents and friends from the Adamstown Athletic Club.

The day kicked off at 10.45 with the eleven plus bracing the Rock. Jim Roche gave us the off and Dolly blessed herself will they return, 1k uphill road before taking to the trek, 1k trek to the Man of the Rock, we didn't have time to look for the cave, downhill and up to the rebel camp before journeying back to Dolly's. The scenery was breathtaking, but that was for another day as the pace was hot, 6kms in total not for the faint hearted.

At 11.30 am the elevens down were lined up, they too had to prove their worth for the money they had collected from their sponsored. A whole 1k uphill to the hedge school and mass rock, their little legs were going ninety to the minute and no time for talking. James & Danny were a welcome sight at the hedge school with the supply of cold ice and oranges before turning for the free wheel downhill and back to Dollys for the buns, drinks and tea. 2kms in total and not a bother on anyone. The club would like to thank everyone for their sponsorship and the Roche family for their kindness.
