ICA GUILD

On Thursday evening of last week all roads led to Adamstown village where the local ICA guild hosted the "Special Occasions" Competition in St. Abban's hall and Coláiste Abbain vocational school. The local ICA ladies worked extremely hard to make this event a huge success. This year 25 guilds took part in the competition, the largest number to date. As this is the year of the gathering,

Wexford Federation had invited a group of ladies from Pembrokeshire W.I. Federation to celebrate this special year with them and they thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The evening started with the ladies from the various guilds setting up their tables for the competition in Coláiste Abbain and then they crossed over to the hall for refreshments where they were served a lovely meal followed by strawberries and cream. Entertainment was provided by the Pike Choir and ladies from different guilds. The Pike Choir was a huge hit with the ladies and received a standing ovation which was well deserved.

The winners of "Special Occasions" were 1st Bree, 2nd Camross and 3rd Oylegate. Well done to the winners. The judges had a very difficult task in finding a winner due to the high standard of work produced by the wonderful ICA ladies. We would like to thank the following people – the FÁS men who helped prepare the hall, the Pike Choir who provided the entertainment, John O'Connor for the strawberries, Paul Cullen for the Cream, Mr. Senan Lillis for the school, the Hall Committee for the hall, Mary Kelly for the cutlery etc., and Everyone who helped in anyway.
