Camross Drama Group aare delighted to announce details for the 3 Act play The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley by Jimmy Keary. You will have a great night of laughs at this comedy of romantic errors on Thursday 30th April and Friday 1st May in Saint Michael's Hall, Green Street, Wexford. Charity Concert

A Charity Concert in aid of St. Vincent de Paul and Wexford Friends of Chernobyl Ltd. Wexford Folk Orchestra with South-End Sea Shanty Singers and other Guests Artists takes place in St. Michael's Hall, Green Street on Saturday, 25th April at 8.00 p.m. (Doors open at 7.30 p.m., Admission €10.00, tickets available at the door. Enjoy a wonderful night of Irish, Scottish, Traditional/Folk Music, songs and recitations.

Craft Sewing For Fun

A 6-week course in Coolcotts Community Centre beginning Tuesday 21st April from 7-9 pm. Projects to include: Cushion Covers, Doorstops, Shopping Bags, Aprons. Wexford Town I.C.A.

Next meeting is on Thursday, 16th April at 7.30 p.m. in Coolcotts Community Centre. Please note this is our A.G.M. so it would be nice to see all members attend. The competition on the night is for a handmade toy suitable for a five year old girl.

Fashion show

As you are aware the spectacular Fashion show takes place in the Riverside Park Hotel on Thursday 7th May. To date we have managed to get some great sponsorship from local businesses We would ask all Parents to do their best to sell as many tickets as possible, this is the only fundraiser we will have this year and all monies raised will go towards providing interactive white boards for the students.

Please return the money and any unsold tickets to the school when it reopens on Monday 13th April, as we are anxious to sell all the tickets for this fun filled evening in May. More information next week.

Camogie Club

Many thanks to everyone who came along tour Easter Egg hunt on Easter Saturday. A great day was had by all. Many thanks to all the helpers, and to people who sponsored eggs or made buns/cakes for the day!

Ladies Football

A meeting for the parents of the u-8 & u-10 age groups will be held in Crossabeg community field (Dressing room in portacabin) at 6.45pm on Wednesday 15th April. Children aged 7yrs and up to 10yrs will be catered for.

Hope and Dreams 10K

We would like to wish all the participants from Glenbrien all the best as they take part in the Annual Hope and Dreams Run on Sunday. A very big thank you to all those who turned out in large nos for all the Easter Services,and to all the people who helped to prepare the church , the flowers, to the cleaners the readers, the choirs , our ministers and the folk group.

Senior Parishioners Party

The Glenbrien Senior Parishioners Annual Party will take place in the Old School centre on Sunday next 19th April with lunch being served at half past one followed by music and entertainment finishing up at 5.30. Camogie News

On the pitch: U.8 combined Camogie/Ladies Football training will resume on WedNESDAY 15th April 6-7.30pm at the wall Contact PJ 0867318018. The U.10s had their first camogie blitz of the year in Glynn on Saturday. They played 3 matches each against Davidstown/Courtnacuddy,Cloughbawn white and Cloughbawn blue . These young girls showed some great skill. Well done to all girls and mentors.

Our Minor Camogie team had an impressive win over Buffers Alley in Monamolin last Tuesday evening in the first round of the Premier Championship beating them 4-7 to 1-4 with an all round gritty performance.

The U.18s face Rathnure at home on Thursday 16th April while our U.16 team begin their championship on Monday night away to Craanford at 7pm. The Juniors took on Gorey away on Saturday morning last and travelled by bus to find that Gorey had only 10 players. Not to be deterred our girls who had set off in numbers loaned 5 players to the opposition and played a practice game winning 6-11 to 0-5 having already been awarded the points.

Camogie Easter Raffle: The Easter Raffle draw was held in the Sycamore House on Thursday night and club President Mary Roche was on hand to officiate. Congratulations to all the many winners. The club would also like to thank all who supported the draw in any way and in particular our main sponsors Mary and Declan Roche of the Sycamore House and a special mention to the hard working committee and Julie Kearney who put so much work into assembling the hamper and gathering other prizes.

Wedding Bells: Congratulations to U.12 Manager Georgina Roche on the occasion of her marriage to Chris Cosgrave on Saturday in Glynn. Her U.12 protégés were on hand to provide a colourful surprise after the wedding when they formed a guard of honour in full camogie dress for the happy couple. We wish them every happiness in the future.

Club Gear: Huge numbers turned out in the clubhouse as orders were taken on Wednesday last for new club gear ( boys and girls age 7 yrs-adult XL). Customers will be contacted when the order arrives.


Féile hurling took place on Sunday last in Killurin and the boys came up against strong opposition in the form of St Martin's and Faythe Harriers. We unfortunately did not advance to the next stage having tried hard but will rally for the Féile Football.

Rowan, David and Jack were part of the Co. Minor Hurling team who defeated Offaly to become the Leinster League Champions in Wexford Park on Saturday April 4th and were also vital components in the opening championship game v Laois when again Wexford took the spoils . Well done lads. Our U.9s and 10s hurlers travelled to Pairc Carman on Friday and the boys really put all their training into action against the Faythe Harriers while their U.11 and 12 club mates hosted the Harriers in Killurin. Our U.16 footballers kick off their championship on Monday 13th with the A team away to St Martins while the B team play in Killurin. Good luck to all.

Senior GAA

Our Junior A football team opened their championship campaign in Monamolin on Sun eve with a 2 point win against Tara Rocks while the Intermediate Footballers played Ballyhogue in the LEIFC on Saturday in Bellefield coming out on top 0-13 to 2-8.

LAdies footballPlenty of activity this week with the club hosting their section of Féile -again the girls worked really hard defeating Duffry Rovers and St Annes to qualify for the quarter final but were defeated by Shelmaliers at that stage.

The U12s were out on Friday night in championship v Gusserane and all girls played a great team game but were beaten 3-3 to 0-2. The U.16 team opened their championship with a confident win over Taghmon Camross in Killurin on Thursday and good displays from all over the field while the Junior team gave a great account of themselves v Gusserane on Tuesday but were overcome in the end.


Deepest sympathy is extended to Ann Shanahan (Barntown) and her children Martin and Maria on the recent loss of their beloved mother/grandmother Peggy. May she Rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy

Tea Party

An American style tea party will be held in the Community centre, Oylegate on Friday April 17th. Anyone looking for tickets for the evening should contact Eamon Mernagh, Graham Rowley or MJ Reck. Tickets are €20 each and this is a fundraiser for the under 14 Feile football team. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Topaz For Clubs: At the moment there is an initiative being run by Topaz for GAA clubs, where a member can get diesel or petrol at a topazstation, get a card from the filling station get it stamped each time that you purchase fuel and when the card is full give it in to the GAA committee members.

When the club have 30 full cards they are then be entered in to a draw for various cash prizes. All support in this venture would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone would like to join the GAA club to help with thisthey are welcome.

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot held in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate on Wednesday April 1st.The lucky dipwinners were Johanna Somers, Siobhan Nolan, Jean Goff, David Phillips, Aileen O'Gorman, Peter Nolan Jnr, Mick Shiggins Snr., and Sean Downes. The next draw will be held in the Slaney Inn Oylegate on Wednesday April 15th. Tickets cost just €2 each available from club members.
