Crossabeg

Ladies Football

A meeting has been arranged for parents of children in the U8 and U10 categories from Crossabeg/Ballymurn Ladies football club. The meeting will take place in Crossabeg community field at 6.45 p.m. (dressing room in cabin) on Wednesday, April 15. Children aged 7 years and up to 10 years will be catered for. The club caters for girls from the parishes of Crossabeg, Ballymurn, Oylegate and Glenbrien. Oylegate.Glenbrien Camogie club caters for hurling for girls from these areas. Contact Niall McDonald on 086-1726923 if unable to attend the meeting.

A reminder to all club members that the football season has started and the training times for teams are as follows:-U12's on Wednesday's from 6.30-7.30 p.m. in Ballymurn; U14's on Monday's and Wednesday's from 6.30-7.30 p.m. in Ballymurn; U16's on Wednesday's from 7.30-8.30 p.m. in Ballymurn; adults on Wednesday's from 7.30-8.30 p.m. and Saturday's from 6.30-7.30 p.m in Ballymurn. These are the times generally but sometimes they will change and managers will inform their teams if this arises. All new members are welcome, either call to the field on training evenings or contact club secretary Ann Doyle.

Textile Collection

The Parents Association of Crossabeg national school would appreciate clothes, footwear, bags and belts for their Textile fundraiser in aid of the school which takes place on April 20. Items can be left in to the school anytime on Friday, April 17 during school hours or from 9 a.m to 9.30 a.m on Monday, April 20.

Clean up Month

April has been once again designated Spring Clean month. Crossabeg parishioners play their part in keeping the roads around the village and surrounding townlands clear of rubbish and unsightly objects. Help is always needed so if you can spare an hour or two please assemble at Kyle Forge on Saturday, April 18 at 11 a.m. where you will be provided with gloves, picks, sacks etc. For further details please contact Patricia on 086-2444086.

New Arrival

We send our congratulations to Getta ad Niall McDonald, The Friary, Crossabeg, on the birth of a baby son, born last week.

Fun Night out

On Saturday, April 18, the local Soccer club in Crossabeg will host a "Mr & Mrs" competition in Foleys pub. The event begins at 9 p.m. Do local couples know as much about each other as they should, why not go along and find out. It promises to be a great nights entertainment.

Church news

On Sunday, April 26, the Apostolate of Eucharist Adoration has planned its third national pilgrimage to Knock. A bus has been booked which will leave on Saturday, April 25 and returning on the evening of April 26. There will also be activities for children and teenagers on the pilgrimage. The cost is €90 which includes bus, one dinner, B & B in Knock House. All this information is available on a poster at the back of the church in Crossabeg. A reminder to all to return Trocaire boxes as soon as possible.

Easter Egg Hunt

Many thanks from Oylegate/Glenbrien Camogie club to everyone who supported their Easter Egg hunt on Easter Saturday. A great day was had by all. Many thanks to all the helpers and to those who sponsored eggs or made buns/cakes for the day. It was much appreciated.

Athletics

A reminder to all athletes that outdoor training has now resumed at the community field in Crossabeg every Monday and Thursday evening from 7-8.15 p.m. New members are always welcome. On Sunday last a number of juvenile members travelled to Ferrybank, Waterford to compete in an open sports competition. Well done to all who competed.

Jack Forde took silver in the Under 13 Long Jump final (4.12m) and a silver medal also in the Under 14 High Jump (1.40m). Sally Shortle took the silver medal in the Under 16 High Jump (1.30). Amy Forde set herself a new PB (8.12m) for the Under 16 Shot Putt competition. Congratulations also to Maire Carley, a new member of the club who competed in the Connemara Marathon on Sunday. Well done to Annis Kehoe, Slaneylodge who also completed the Connemara marathon in a time of 4.41.15.

The Committee of Galbally Sports & Leisure Club is holding a table quiz to fundraise for the Hall on this Friday 17th April at 9pm in Ryan=92s Pub, Galbally. A table of 4 costs €20. Your support for this event would be very much appreciated.

Tidy Towns

National Spring Clean 2015 Campaign-Bree Tidy Towns would like to invite you once again to participate in the National Spring Clean promoted by An Taisce and Wexford County Council. We hope to have our Spring Clean on the weekend of Sat. 18th and Sun. 19th April.

In cooperation with the staff of Bree National School, all the children will be supplied with bags to assist in the collection of rubbish in their area. We would encourage parents to accompany their children and help in the collection of the unsightly rubbish that is all too evident on our roadsides.

It would be great if all householders and landowners could check their own roadside boundaries and clear them of any rubbish. Rubbish can be bagged and left at the following collection points over the weekend: Borodale, Ballinapierce Bridge, Wilton, Bree Village( school car park ), Bree Lower, Sparrowsland, Craan entrance to Bree Hill, Macmine Cross, Edermine Cross, Knockduff Lane Lower, Borrmount Cross and Garrenstackle. Please be aware of safety issues, particularly with children, while out on the road. Many thanks for your help.

Sympathy

Many thanks to all who supported the Fundraising Table Quiz in Garry Byrne=92s recently. Outdoor training for the summer season has resumed on Monday and Wednesday nights for the older age group and resumed on Monday, 13th April for Little Athletics. Macra News

Well done to the volleyball team who qualified for the NDC National Finals, beating Cushinstown Macra in the County Round. Team members were Michelle Allen, Aine Doyle, Marie Doyle, Mark Waters, Stephen Donohoe, John Healy and Damien O'Neill.

Daniel O'Donnell trip

Daniel O'Donnell will perform a fundraising concert in aid of Dungloe community hospital, Donegal, where Daniel's mother was nursed during her final days. Concert starts on Sunday 17th at 1 p.m in Dungloe. Daniel on stage from 3-5 p.m.

A coach departs Wexford on Saturday the 16th May, travelling via Enniscorthy and Gorey, returning Monday 18th May. We are staying at Imperial hotel, Ballyshannon, cost €195, includes coach travel 2BB and dinner also concert ticket. Bereavement

Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the wife Molly, sons, daughters and extended family of the late Pat Quigley, Ballinaslaney, Oylegate who passed to his eternal reward, in Wexford General Hospital on Thursday 9th April.

The late Pat, who was in his early seventies, had been a prominent hurler with Oulart-The Ballagh in the 60s and 70s and maintained his interest in the club's fortunes all his life. As a mark of respect, Oulart-The Ballagh G.A.A. provided a guard of honour at the funeral and burial in Oylegate on Saturday. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá anam uasal.

Church Gate Collection

The Irish Wheelchair Association will hold its annual Church Gate Collection at St. Patrick's Church, Oulart on the weekend of 18th/19th April. Your usual generous response to this very worthy charity is anticipated.

Table Quiz

Calling all quiz enthusiasts! It's time to start revising the capitals of the world, the "who's who" among the political classes and all the trivia associated with the pop world, not to mention brushing up on your sporting knowledge! Paul Roche's "Oulart Hill Bar" is the place to be on Friday 17th April when Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will host a Table Quiz. Entry fee is a mere €40 per table of four and a great night's entertainment is guaranteed.

Sumobi Kennels

Once again, congratulations to Maureen and Jimmy Wade, Sumobi Kennels, on their latest successes on the canine circuit. In Dublin, at the international show, Willow who was recovering from illness, took Green Star Bitch, Best of Breed and fourth in the group, under a Swedish judge. Following her sister's wins, Poppy got Reserve Green Star and Reserve Best of Breed. The next challenges are two back- to- back shows in Belfast. Best of luck to Sumobi Kennels as they keep the Oulart flag flying in this highly competitive arena.

Camogie fundraiser

John Sinnott's Lifestyle Transformation team are holding a car wash at Matty Parle Tyres, Oulart on Saturday 18th from 9am. Your support would be greatly appreciated. The winner of last week's "Split the Pot" was Patricia O'Connor. You can enter in local shops and pubs for €2 per entry.

Forever Fit

Forever Fit is now in Enniscorthy at Astro Active on Thursday nights. "Dance-fit" begins at 7 pm and "Forever Active over 60s" at 8pm upstairs.Classes continue in Oulart Community Centre on Fridays at 10am and "Forever Active" over 60s at 11.30 am. Scoil Mochua Notes

The annual School Spring Clean will be held on 22nd April from 11.10am until 12.20pm. On the following day, April 23rd an Internet Safety talk, for pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th classes will begin at 1pm to be followed at 8pm for a talk for parents. The new Infants, due to start school in September, and their parents/guardians will be welcomed at 10am in the Infant classroom on 24th April. The First Holy Communion in Oulart will be held on 9th May at 11am.

From April 20th-24th a Readathon will take place in Scoil Mochua. The aim of the Readathon is two-fold: to encourage recreational reading among children and to raise funds for replenishment of school library stocks. The pupils will be seeking sponsorship for the Readathon.

All About Colour

The next "taster session" will take place in Oulart/The Ballagh area on Tuesday 14th April where you can learn about the different qualities each colour has to offer and how to apply this knowledge in a positive and practical way to enhance wellbeing. This combined with a gentle intro to mediation and intuitive painting helps to bring about inner peace and self empowerment. For further information please contact Kathleen on 087-3145212.
