Cemetery Clean Up
The proposed work on the cemetery surrounding Galbally church will take place this Friday and Saturday May 1st and 2nd. This is important work which requires an amount of man power. Our hope is to have all the wild and overgrown areas cleared so that out church and cemetery will look their best in time for our annual patron. Bree Davidstown Community Area athletic finals take place in Bree on Thursday, 14th May at 6pm. Please note a change in date as entries must be submitted in mid May. The county finals take place in Bree on June 13th
Bree AC News
Bree AC affiliation fees are now due as the first part of the county championships takes place in Enniscorthy on Sunday next, 3rd May and the second part is Sunday, 10th May again in Enniscorthy.
Catechism for Adults
Veritas Publications have recently launched a Catechism for Adults, containing up to date presentations of the teachings and practice of the Catholic faith. A representative of Veritas will be present on Wednesday May 6th at 8pm. in Bree School. All are most welcome to come along.
Bree ICA would like to thank everyone who helped out on Daffodil Day, the volunteers on the day, the suppliers of fresh daffodils, the people who wrapped the daffodils, the businesses who kindly accepted donation boxes and everyone who gave so generously on the day in Enniscorthy. €7,931.05 was collected, a fantastic amount, all of which goes directly to the Irish Cancer Society with funds returning to help with local Cancer Support.
The group need more fresh daffodil suppliers and volunteers to collect on the day. Please contact 0872988459 to become a supporter of the campaign.
Training for U8 and U10 girls will re-commence on Wednesday, April 29 at 6.30 p.m. at the local community field in Crossabeg.
A reminder that outdoor training for juveniles takes place every Monday and Thursday evening from 7.8.15 p.m. New members are always welcome.
The death occured on Thursday of last week of Mrs. Angela Carr (nee Lambert) 8, Kennedy Park, Wexford. Pre-deceased by her husband Paddy, she is survived by her sons Martin, Paul, Declan, Michael and Brendan and by her daughters Marie and Callista, relatives and friends. Burial took place to Crossabeg cemetery after Requiem Mass in Bride Street church on Saturday last. We extend our deepest sympathy to all her family. R.I.P.
GAA club news
The numbers drawn last week in the Lotto were 4, 17, 22 and 29. There was no winner and the match three winners were Anthony Byrne, Declan Cullen and Eileen & Jodie D. This weeks Jackpot is worth €10,000.
Best of luck to the Intermediate hurlers who will play Askamore in the first round of the championship this weekend. Well done to Ballymurn school who won the Mini Sevens hurling title last week, defeating Horeswood in the final. This win also meant that they won the double, having won the football final the week before. It was a great achievement and great credit must go to all the players and their teachers. The U14 footballers will host a club from Fermanagh in this years Feile in June.
55+ Club news
The 55 Club members had a lovely afternoon on Tuesday, April 21 when they went bowling at LeisureMAX and were joined afterwards for lunch by Rev. Fr. Jim Finn. All members have agreed that there would be further outings during the summer months. Following that, they will organize other indoor activities for the winter months. New members are most welcome. The next session of story telling at Kyle Forge will take place on Sunday next, May 3, commencing at 8 p.m. Refreshments are served.
Flowers for the Church
A collection will take place on the weekend of May 9 and 10 for flowers for the Altar in Crossabeg for the First Holy Communion and throughout the year. Your support would be much appreciated.
Please retain the following dates in your diaries. On Friday, May 15 the end of season social night for Crossabg AFC members and supporters will be held in Foleys of Crossabeg. The club will hold their annual Charity match on Sunday, May 17. The most important date is Friday, May 22 when the club will hold their annual general meeting.
Adoration every Monday from 1 p.m. until 7.20 p.m with Mass at 7.30 p.m. Adoration then continues until 9 p.m.
Friday next is the First Friday of the Month and the sick and housebound will be visited at the usual times. Prayer meeting every Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in the parochial house.
A new way of understanding the Catechism of the Catholic church has been published by Veritas. One of the authors, Mr. Brendan O`Reilly will give a talk in Kyle Forge on Thursday next, April 30 at 8 p.m. The talk is open to all. Admission is free.
The local committee will hold their athletic finals in the community field in Crossabeg on Wednesday, May 13. Registration will be at 6.30 p.m. These finals are open to boys and girls from under 8 right up to under 16 years. There will be sprints for all the even ages and the programme will also include 200M, 400M, 600M and 800M events. As well as that there will be Long Jump and Long Puck and Ball Throw. The Dynamic Kickboxing Academy would like to thank all those who turned out for our first funraiser which was held on Saturday night, your support was really appreciated, as we are hoping to take a number of our members to The Europian Championships in Hungary in November.
A special thank you to all those who donated prizes for the raffle, to Randy Leprechaun and co for the music and to Toni and the staff in the Big Tree Lounge for looking after everyone so well and supporting the club.
A lovely afternoon was had by some of our senior parishioners in the old school on Sunday last, thanks to all who attended, special thanks to the people who volunteered and helped on the day providing a lovely meal t.o all. Thanks to Pat Quirke for the music and Entertainment, and the Big Tree.
Congratulations to all the students who are being confirmed on Thursday; we hope they have a lovely day.
Only one more week to go before the big Fashion show Extravaganza which takes place in the Riverside Park Hotel on Thursday 7th May.
We are extremely grateful, to all those for working so hard to drive this venture , those who have given us super duper raffle prizes, and most importantly our Celebrity Models who will strut their stuff on the Cat walk . First Communion this year will be celebrated on 9th May and as usual, the St. Patrick's Church Choir will enhance the ceremony by their rendition of suitable hymns. As a preparation, choirmaster Seán Hallahan and organist Monica Mae will hold another choir practice on Wednesday 29th April, in St. Mochua's Chapel, beginning at 8.30pm. Newcomers are always welcome to join the choir and of course, all regular and former members are asked to attend.
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA has three adult teams (Senior, Intermediate and Junior) involved in league and championship and all three are doing well in the leagues and busy preparing for the upcoming championships. The 1st Round of the 2015 hurling county championship will take place on the weekend 2nd/3rd May. Oulart-The Ballagh seniors will play Shelmaliers in Bellefield on 2nd May. The following weekend, 10th May, they will play Faythe Harriers while on 24th May they will meet Shamrocks in the 3rd Round of the championship. The 4th Round of the ACHL will take place on the first weekend of June. A busy and interesting Summer beckons!
Model County Draw
The Annual Model County Development Draw, with a prize fund of €100,000, will take place on the last Wednesday of April, May and June. Oulart-The Ballagh along with all the other clubs in Co. Wexford will benefit considerably from the sale of the tickets. Players and officials have tickets for sale at €50 each or you can pay in monthly instalments of €20 (April), €20 (May) and €10 (June). Anyone wishing to purchase a ticket may contact 086-1686978.

Church Gate Collection
St. Patrick's Special School, Bohreen Hill, Enniscorthy, which caters so wonderfully for young people with Special Needs is holding its annual Church Gate Collection in Oulart and The Ballagh on Saturday/Sunday 2nd/3rd May. Your usual generous response is anticipated. Camogie Registration Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club will hold a registration night on Tuesday 28th April from 7pm-8pm.Membership can be paid on the night. New members are asked to bring a copy of their birth certificate.
A trial walk/run will take place on 1st May and the official Walk/Run takes place on 17th May. Josie Sinnott's team are holding a BBQ in Pierce Redmond's Pub, Raheenduff on Saturtday 2nd May. Burgers and chicken curry will be available from 8.30pm onwards. Be sure to make a note in your diary because the craic will be mighty in Raheenduff that night. All proceeds to Oulart-The Ballagh Camogie Club.
Other fundraisers: "Split the Pot" organised by John Sinnott's team continues in local shops and pubs. Place 2 euro in an envelope that is provided, write your name on it and place the sealed envelope in the bucket. A draw takes place on Fridays and one winner, from all the buckets combined, takes half the pot. Jane Tohill's team are having a BBQ in Marty's on Sunday 17th May, from 5pm-7pm. Pauline Davitt's team are holding a Card Drive, in The Sawdust on Wednesday 29th April.
Congratulations to the cailíní of Scoil Mochua on winning the Co. Wexford Mini-Sevens title in St. Patrick's Park on Monday evening, 20th April when they overcame Horeswood, on a scoreline of 3 goals 1 point to 1 goal 2 points, to win the prestigious competition and bring another county title back to the parish. Well done Aoife Manley, Sophie Rossiter, Ellen Lyons-Corrigan, Siobhán Sinnott, Miria O'Dowd, Edel Kehoe, SinÃ©ad Mythen, Kayla James, Chelsea King, Maria Whelan, Sarah Walsh, Bronagh Kenny, Shona Proctor-Laird, Faith Masterson, Megan Brown and Niamh Larkin-Cooney.
The parents' Association of Colaiste an Ãtha, Kilmuckridge will hold their annual Coffee Morning in the lounge of The Crosses Pub, Kilmuckridge on Friday 1st May, from 10am until 12 noon. Tickets are available from the College reception during school opening times and also at the Crosses, on the day. There will be lots of door and raffle prizes as well as delicious confectionary. Your support would be greatly appreciated by the whole school community, all of whom are appreciative of the involvement of the Parents' Association in many positive aspects of school life.
