GAA notes

Preparations are well under way now for the All Ireland U14 Football Féile which is taking place on the weekend of 26-28 June 2015. Wexford will be home to a feast of Gaelic Football that weekend with 176 boys teams and 78 girls teams from Ireland, the U.S. and the U.K. taking part this year-it is the biggest sporting event taking place in Ireland this year.

This week we learned that our visiting teams for the Féile will be a girls team from Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath and a boys team all the way from San Francisco!!

The visiting players will be staying with host families in Kilmore and we thank all of the families who have volunteered to be host families for the weekend-it would not have been possible for our clubs to take part without your support.

The visiting teams will also have lots of travelling support so Kilmore will be a very busy place on that weekend!

To help cover the costs associated with the Féile we are having a "Breakfast in the Hall" fundraiser on Sunday 3 May (Bank Holiday Weekend). We would appreciate your support for this event and please encourage your neighbours, friends and anyone visiting for the weekend to drop in as well.

Official opening: The official opening of our new facility has been fixed for Sunday evening May 17th. The opening will be performed by President of the GAA Mr Aogán Ó Fearghail. The occasion will be marked by a Senior Hurling challenge game between Wexford and Waterford whish promises to be a competitive encounter only 3 weeks before each of these sides open their respective championship campaigns on 7th June. Definitely a date for the diary.
