gaa Lotto

The St Fintans GAA lotto now stands at €4,500 and tickets can be purchased in the local shops,club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8pm and from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match three prize of €300 up for grabs each week. The numbers drawn last week were 21,23,26,27. Many thanks for your continued support.

Ballycogley Players

Our 2015 AGM was held in Tomhaggard Social Centre on Monday June 22nd and the following officers were elected for the coming year: Chairman Paddy McGuire, Secretary Rachel Murphy, Treasurer Terence O'Byrne & PRO Trisha Boyce. Committee members Laura Hayes, Con Doyle, Fintan Murphy & Breda Hayes.

On taking the" chair"Paddy welcomed new member Trish Goggin and wished her an enjoyable time with the players. Here's to a successful season for "The Players" in our 40th year of drama.

We congratulate group member Annmarie Lally on her promotion to Deputy Principal of Ferns N.S. We wish Rachel Murphy,Trish Boyce,Terrence O Byrne and Fintan Murphy a good time when they visit our president Michael D.Higgins in the Aras on Tuesday of this week.

Scout champions

Kilmore Senior Scout team won the Co Campcraft Shield Competition in Artramon Castlebridge from Fri to Sun, last weekend. The also won the Best Chef award and Best Campcraft & site.

The scouts had to be self sufficient all weekend, erect own tents, store tents, build gadgets from timber and sisal, do all own cooking, take on skills and fun based challenges, cook a two course meal on open fire, health and safety, hygiene, etc. They will now represent Wexford at the National Finals in Limerick in August.

Team are all under 15, Saoirse Foley PL, Callum Dove APL, Alex Brady, Niamh Bradfield, Matthew Philips, Conor Lambert, Jack Lambert.

The Junior team received a Silver award for achieving 65-85% standard over the weekend also, a fantastic achievement as all the team under 13 Cora Devlin PL, Aimee McDonnell APL, Josh Power, Shauna O Connor, Huan Er McBride, Cormac Lyons.

The scouting year ended up with a BBQ on Ballyhealy on Wednesday evening when all sections were presented with their Progression and Merit Badges, earned over the past year. Caoibhin O Byrne Co Commissioner was on hand also to present the Group with SQS Excellence Quality Scouting award.

Meetings will resume in September for everyone but the Shield team who will continue to train until August. Anyone interested in joining please contact Breda Hayes 0876858480. Places are very limited in Cub 9-11 Section, Scout 12-15 Section while there are places in Beaver 6-9 Section and Venturer 15-18 Sections. New Leaders are also welcome

Open Garden

Marie Goodwin, Loughgunnan will open her garden on Sunday July 12th from 2-6pm. Complimentary tea and cakes will be served and all donations are in aid of Mayglass National school. All are welcome.

St Fintan's gaa

Last week was a very busy one for the St Fintans GAA club both on and off the field. On Thursday evening three members of the club Jim Rossitter,Conor Sinnott and Donal Shanley all played major roles with the Wexford junior football team that defeated Meath in the Leinster final ,Conor scoring 6pts.

On Saturday evening two members of the club Joey Wadding and Jim Rossitter were part of the Wexford senior football team that defeated Down in a first round senior football qualifier played in Innovate Wexford park.

The Feile Na Nog National tournament was held in Wexford,Carlow and Wicklow over the Weekend with St Fintans hosting two teams ,St Fintans/Our Ladys Island hosted Listowel Emmetts an u-14 boys team from Co. Kerry while St Fintans hosted an u-14 girls team Castlerahan-denn Co. Cavan. The visiting boys team staying two nights with host families in Killinick and Our Ladys Island while the visiting girls team stayed with host families in Killinick.

The boys team put the "icing on the cake"after a shaky start and a hard fought victory over neighbours Kilmore the team travelled to Wicklow on Sunday morning for a ten o clock start to take on Buffers Alley in the Shield semi final and at the final whistle the sides were level but the boys from the sunny south east prevailed in extra time to set up a meeting with Derry Gales in the final.

The final was also played in Wicklow with Our Ladys Island/St Fintans claiming the trophy. Congratulations to all and a more detailed report will be given on both the girls and boys games at a later date.

Happy Birthday

Congratulations to Samantha Rowe Donegan Ballycorboys who celebrated her 40th birthday with a party in the Merry Elf Killinick during the past week. Happy birthday Samantha.

Pongo In The Park

There will be a "Pongo in the Park" session held on Sunday 12th July as part of the Kilrane Rosslare Harbour Community Weekend,in the Memorial Park, Rosslare Harbour. All proceeds will be in aid of St. Marys Daycare Centre, Tagoat.

Pongo will commence at 2.00pm sharp and there will be loads of activities in the Memorial Park on that afternoon such as Facepainting, Bric a Brac, Craft stalls, Tea and Cake stall,Penalty Shootout, bouncy castles, Hook a Duck, Crazy Golf and live music from "The Backbeats"

On Saturday 11th July there will be a "Strictly With A Twist" night with a fun dance competition with "celebrity" judges and guest MC in Railway Social Club Hall. Come on down, see some lovely dancing, wait for the "twist" and vote for your favourite.

This weekend supports clubs and organizations in the Kilrane Rosslare Harbour area such as Rosslare Harbour Lifeboat, Tops Community Group, St Marys Daycare, Tuskar Sea Scouts, and sporting clubs locally. A great weekend of fun promised.

Festival Bingo

Full steam ahead for the Kilmore Quay Seafood Festival Bingo this Sunday 5th July. Plenty of prizes, sit besides and a great night of fun and entertainment. Come on down and meet friends and neighbours and have a good night out.

Bridgetown Handball

The Semi Finals of the Adult and Juvenile 60 by 30 championships are ongoing at present. Our two juvenile representatives Willie Murray Byrne (U15) and Shane Murphy (U17) both played Ballyhoge players and unfortunately Ballyhoge came out on top on both occasions, Colm Parnell beating Willie and Liam Rossiter getting the better of Shane after two tight games.

Shane partnered Ciaran Busher in the Junior D Doubles semi-final against the St Martins pair of Davis Stanners and Paddy Curran and it went to the third game before the Piercestown pair won out to progress to the Final. In Junior C Singles Brian Busher had chances against Fintan Furlong from St Marys but could not take them and lost out in the third game. Eamonn Codd is playing in the other Semi Final against James Stanners from St Martins this week, while Maire Busher is awaiting her semi-final opponent.

Seafood Festival

The 30th annual Kilmore Quay Seafood Festival takes place from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th July. There will be lots of activities for all the family. Children's workshops, sea kayaking, fish Friday markets, festival exhibitions, puppet show, teddy bears picnic, harbour stalls, festival lecture, nature walks, and Ceili Mor are to name just some of the activities that will take place over the weekend!

Come along and enjoy our delicious seafood platters available daily in The Stella Maris centre. These are not to be missed!

Novena in Tomhaggard

The annual novena to St. Anne takes place in Tomhaggard from July 18th to 26th with Mass each evening at 7.30pm with the exception of Sundays. Mass on Sunday July 19th will be open-air in the Grotto at 2pm. Patron and field day will be on Sunday July 26th at 2pm.

Kilmore Utd

Following a brief meeting with players it has been decided to throw open applications for the positions as managers of both our men's teams. We think we have a fairly handy crop of players so anyone interested in guiding our Premier & Div 3a men for the forthcoming season please contact Club Head Coach Todd on 086-8122627.

21st Birthday

Belated 21st birthday wishes to Peter Shannon Ballyseskin Kilmore who celebrated this special birthday recently. Peter is son of Mary and Peter.

Gold Pin

A special occasion took place in Dublin in the Guinness Store Home last Saturday when in his abstence due to health Sean Radford Rackardstown Kilmore was represented by his wife Lucy and grandson Sean in which the RNLI presented a beautiful Gold Pin to Sean for all his many years of work he did for the Lifeboat. Sean did trojan work over many many years and this honour was well due as he did all kinds of work.

At a later time this year a special occasion will take place in Kilmore Quay and Sean will be a special guest of the RNLI. Everyone connected with lifeboats all over Ireland are delighted Sean got this and all know what work he has done.

Active Retirement

Kilmore Active Retirement has the following activity for week commencing 29th June: Monday 29th-Tenpin bowling at Leisuremax at 11-00am; Monday evening at 8pm a special meeting will be held at 8pm. in the GAA clubrooms.

Tuesday 30th-AGM of the county bowling league at 11am in Bree community Centre.

Thursday 3rd-Indoor bowling at the Stella Maris Centre from 7 to 9pm.

A reminder to all of our day trip to Dublin by train to visit the Wax museum and Dublin Castle on Wednesday 15th July. Meet Kilmore car park at 7am.

Bereavement

Kilmore SCOPE offers its sympathy to our treasurer Eamonn Cullen on the death of his sister Joan which occurred last week after a short illness. All associated with the Information Centre in Bridgetown would also like to be associated with this message of sympathy.
