During the recent spell of good weather, the Brigins in Barntown brought their weekly meetings to an end for the season by celebrating at the Teddy Bear's Picnic.
Lots of treats were on offer and the girls were also able to earn their 'Baker's Award Badge' by baking 6 buns and 6 biscuits and bringing them along to the picnic to share. The Guides were on hand to test out the baking skills of their younger companions and gave the thumbs up at the end of the night.
The evening also saw the presentation of several other Award Badges both for the Brigins and the Guides some of which included; Children's Charity Award Badge, Craft, Cultural Awareness, Fire Safety, Interaction and Thrift Fund Award. The girls had immense fun preparing and working towards these awards throughout the year.
Special awards were presented to Jelena McNamara (Brigin of the year) and Nicole Dempsey (Guide of the year). Well done to you both on this great achievement.
Finally as a special year end outing, the Guides and the Brigins had a girls trip to the Movies followed by a visit to McDonalds, where great fun was had by all.

FÉILE PEIL 2015
Our visitors St. Gabriels of Galway and Loughnavalley of Westmeath arrived to sunshine in Killurin on Friday evening for Féile Peil 2015 along with Cookstown Fr Rock's Co Tyrone and St Kevin's Co Wicklow.
The boys' first game v Cookstown was a bit one sided and we recorded a loss. Next up we met St Kevin's but the result unfortunately was the same. News arrived from Pairc Carman that the girls had played Erin's Own and squeezed a one point win after an excellently tight game and had then gone on to a comfortable win over the Volunteers. Five hungry teams and their families gathered in the clubhouse (and around the bbq!) for a very enjoyable evening.
On Saturday, the morning began with a parade around the club grounds to the strains of a piper and then Glynn-Barntown Féile boys met their guests St Gabriels on the field. The opposition proved too strong for us. The girls then took on their visitors Loughnavalley and it was a close affair for the first half but Loughnavalley pulled away in the end. This put our boys through to a shield quarter final in Hollywood and our girls to a cup quarter final in Blessington later that afternoon.
Unfortunately after valiant efforts from both Glynn Barntown teams, the Féile journey ended there for them but our visitors went on to the semi the next day where Loughnavalley were defeated but St Gabriels won their semi final and Glynn Barntown club was delighted when news filtered through on Sunday that their visitors had gone all the way to lift the All Ireland Division 5 Féile Peile cup of 2015!
All the stops were pulled out over the weekend to look after our guests and on Saturday a fantastic evening was held in the clubhouse with a disco for the youngsters. Later presentations were made to the visiting clubs and to each visiting player.
Glynn Barntown GAA and Ladies Football Clubs would like to thank St Gabriels and Loughnavalley who represented their clubs so well at the weekend both on and off the field.
The club would also like to thank the Féile committee for their excellent organisation of the weekend, the host families for their care and hospitality, our sponsors and all who supported the event in any way.
Notices for inclusion in the Glynn/Barntown area notes should be e-mailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org or alternatively, phone Hillary on 087 2028065.
